Advanced Placement

Advanced Placement (AP) programs provide incentives for public comprehensive high schools in California to provide students access to rigorous, college-level courses. Students may pursue college-level work while in secondary school and receive college credit, advanced academic standing, or both. Completion of AP courses and related tests are recognized by most public and private universities.

We offer AP classes in these subjects:

Studio Art

Computer Science

Computer Science A

Social Studies

US History

World History

World Languages

Spanish Language and Culture

A course at a four-year university will typically cost several thousand dollars. The AP exam, which offers the chance to earn the same number of units, is only $94, and for those on free and reduced lunch, only $54. To register for free and reduced lunch, please fill out the application, which can be found on the RCHS website.

Payment for the AP Exam can be made in three ways:

  • The preferred method of payment is to use the online payment system MySchoolBucks.
  • A check made out to RCHS can be given to our bookkeeper, Lacey Goff. The school also accepts cash.
  • Additionally, payments can be made through-out the year, (you can amortize the payments) either through MySchoolBucks,or by check and cash to RCHS.

We encourage families to sign up now for the exam so that students will have a vested interest in preparing for the exam, and thus increase the likelihood they will pass.

Exams can be purchased until March 15.

Waivers or discounts are available for students who are unable to pay for their examination. Counselors have more information for students on these options.
