Letter from Principal Carter

Dear Parents, Families and Friends,

Welcome to another year at Rancho Cotate High School—home of the Cougars! As a school community, we are energized, excited, and deeply committed to making a positive difference in the lives of your children. We accomplish this by setting high academic expectations for all students and providing supportive systems to assure they are met. By building a positive school culture, setting high standards for teacher performance, increasing the academic expectations for all students, and engaging the community--it is our goal that all students are college and career ready on the day they graduate.

This year we will all get to watch the construction of our new TAG building (Theater, Academics, and Gymnasium). During this two-year project we will keep you informed of safety protocols and updates which will impact students or traffic. Please make every effort to ensure that we have your current e-mail/contact information in our database for this communication.

Along with this direct communication, this webpage will provide you with information relating to the ongoing construction occurring. We expect there to be very minimal impact to our daily operations, and our administration will be meeting on a daily basis with our head of construction to ensure a safe and non-disruptive experience for our campus. We are providing a link to a camera that will show you in real-time both the daily progress occurring, and the safety measures in place. This is an exciting window into our project, and we hope you will visit it often to see the headway we are making on this tremendous learning space for students.

This is a great opportunity for students to see first-hand the application of learning to the real-world environment. We are planning on incorporating construction in many of our courses, and will work closely with Wright Construction to offer learning opportunities to our many courses including: Construction Tech, Woodworking, Engineering, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics students. The construction team on site is honoring a strict set of Code of Conduct rules which I had the opportunity to have input into. We expect everyone involved in this project to maintain and model a professional and respectful workplace, and honor the values we hold as a school.

Nothing is more important than student safety at Rancho Cotate High School, and I am happy to answer questions and address any concerns you may have.

On behalf of my entire team, we are looking forward to working with you and your student as “together we achieve the extraordinary”!
